A day in the life of a typical Citizen Canine. All guests begin each day at 6 a.m. with an individual potty walk by the morning staff. Overnight dogs enjoy breakfast in bed between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. while day care dogs check in. Even dogs don’t like to run around on a full stomach, so after their morning meal we give everybody a chance to relax and digest. Morning playgroups begin around 9 a.m. Using what we‘ve learned from our preliminary consultation, we assign each dog to a playgroup based on age, size, activity level and play style. The groups are small and supervised to encourage positive social interaction. They last up to 30 minutes depending on the size and canine make-up of each group, the weather and other circumstances. We monitor groups so that dogs get enough exercise without overdoing it. Family groups or private play dogs have at least ten minutes outside. This time is focused one-on-one attention from a staff member to play however your dog wants to. We make sure they always have a great time. After all the excitement winds down, the dogs come inside to relax. Some dogs use this down time to work on a Kong or chew toy, but most dogs just like to nap. They rejoin their friends in the play yard starting around 1p.m. If you‘ve treated your dog to any upgrades, your dog will get this extra attention in the afternoon as well. In the early evening, overnight dogs say goodbye to their daycare buddies and get ready for a delectable dinner, generally served between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. After the dogs have eaten, the staff makes sure that their rooms are comfortable for a night of restful sleep. The day wraps up after our guests rejoin their playgroup for one last romp before drifting off to sleep at 9 p.m. We have an overnight staff member on duty between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. |
