Uh Oh! Bravo Recalls It’s Raw Dog Food

At Citizen Canine, we take great pride in providing the leading doggie daycare and boarding services in the Bay area. As a busy pet owner, you may not have time to stay up to date on the latest happenings in the pet food industry, which is why we believe in helping you stay in the know.

Recently, popular cat and food supplier, Bravo, has recalled eight dog and cat foods in its raw food line. Bravo is well known for producing high quality and complete nutrition for pets in New Zealand and supplies their products overseas. The reason behind the recall is that experts suspect that certain Bravo dog and cat foods have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can have serious consequences on young children, elderly individuals and pregnant women. While Listeria monocytogenes has been shown to be relatively harmless in dogs and cats, it can produce symptoms such as stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhea.

If you use Bravo dog or cat food, you should contact the company directly at (860)896-1256 to speak with a customer service representative about the recall and make sure that your pet food is not affected. If it is part of the recall, you must safely dispose of it. The best way to do so is to place the food in a large trash bag and tighten it securely. Check the trash bag for holes prior to disposing of the food. Do not simply throw the bag of food away, as other animals such as raccoons, may be susceptible to the virus should they come in contact with the food.

We’re here to care for your pet while you are away. For all of your pet boarding needs and dog training classes, feel free to get in touch with us directly by phone or simply stop by in person today!
